i'm starting to be a little bit more content with taking pictures on my dslr...i'm still only good with still life...i haven't quite gotten the hang of portraits...which is something i want to practice more of...that and landscape. this flower is a great picture...minus the pixelation problem.

this is from the okinawa fair. pretty small but eventful fair. next fair is the summer fair...i'm planning on going if the weather permits.

finish product of a very simple woven dress. sometimes it's too hot outside and i just feel like putting something light weight on...here it is...add a little belt and necklace and good to go!

simple shirt...not sure if i like it or not. something simple but different.

update on dress...i took the second neck binding out...didn't really like it. it was an idea better in my head. dress has pockets on the side. i need to put artwork on here...must still consult with bff about this.

massive amounts of fabric...here's a lilac single jersey knit eating up my floor.

after cutting up all the pieces...nice little folded up pile of fabric.

somewhat end results. i'm not sure if i'm pleased with this or not...i have to see what it actually looks like on me. this dress has pockets and i'm not sure the length of it yet. this dress is almost complete...i have to hem it and i will probably add some embroidery artwork on the wearer's left chest or something...i'm not sure. must consult with bff about this.

i read on danny seo's blog about this place. twinA and i went this past friday and it was great!! the people there are soooo nice...and it's a genuine nice...it's something different in a very busy city. i have a feeling i will be going again this week. :) hopefully the weather is nice and i can have a few friends for a danku picnic!! :)

2) i made regular blue denims...turned out a bit boring...i think i got tired of working with the denims cause they dyed my hands. i need to discuss with bff on how these denims can BAM! for the booMMM!

it's been raining here nonstop...i'm surprised i've gotten pretty good wireless internet connection. this year, i missed a lot of the blooming flowers due to the massive amounts of rainy days we've gotten. i've capture a good amount of flowers (post-precipitation), but this is one of my favorites...probably because it's BAM!-ing bright. :)

i really want to start a project...called PROJECT CONFUSION. i want to create the same kind of shirt (black & grey stripes with bright pink ruffles down center front)...then have everyone wear their shirts on the same day in the office so that when we walk down the hall, people may be a little confused or something like that.

this weekend, i have created 3 shirts for project confusion.

this is karina's top...i hope it's long enough..i might have to add a black band at the bottom for a little bit of length.

here's erin's Vneck shirt...it should be long enough. fyi...Vnecks are a bit of a pain...it's not as easy as a crew neck.

my tank top...there wasn't enough fabric for each of us to have the same black/grey stripes, but it's okay...you get the basic idea.

so...today, i'm going to go to mood and see if they have more black/grey stripes.

i made this last night after watching lost. i was a bit tired and the ruffles aren't in that great of a straight line. this weekend i'm going to make a tank top for me & my bff. the main body is going to have grey and black stripes and the ruffles are going to be a contrasting color...which will be decided tomorrow. :)

TIP OF THE DAY:
know where you're going...especially on a rainy day because your bff might be wearing flats that will get her feet cold. no one wants their bff to get sick.

today is a great day...it's been a great day for a while bit. i'm always in good company. and today, i had the great opportunity to wear this mad rad bright yellow juicy jacket. it is so nice and beautiful...the only complain i have is that it's hard to move around in because this material doesn't stretch or move as well as it could. it's so beautiful though.

i've noticed that i'm not good at taking portraits...i like taking pictures of textures and colors. i need to start learning how to take pictures of people. i'm actually okay taking pictures of animals...but people...i think i have a problem because i want to give certain things characters but i feel as though if i took pictures of people, i would be portraiting them incorrectly...if that makes sense.

i had a really fun walk today during break. i saw a lot of drunk people fall down or scream. it was a good walk because i talked to a friend the entire time and it made the walk go by faster...i really like good conversations and learning more about people. i noticed that the other day...that i'm a bit too nosy/curious about people.

on thursday, i had received a very upsetting phone call, stating that ruby had passed away. i am very upset by her death, for many reasons, but one being: neglect. i shared her with someone, but ruby loved this someone and wanted to stay with him when i decided to move back here. he neglected her and did not take proper care, and in the end, she died from a bad case of lice (which is very treatable).

this is a nasty post...i apologize, but i believe with the proper care, this little black/white creature that gave so much loving would still be alive. she was not 2 years old yet.

RIP. ruby grapefruit. you were a very silly one! :)

my life is quite the nauseous rollercoaster in the past few days. most of all, my belle-y pepper has passed away late last night/early this morning. she was my baby rat that i got when she was younger than when i was supposed to actually get her. she was the most awesome-est pet ever because potty training her took one try and that was it. she didn't make it to two years old. :\

holiday hats for babies

so i went to the hospital with my mom today and we saw a little dinky sign for volunteers to knit/crochet hats for newborn babies. umm...perfect! i love winter and it's important for babies (and everyone) to wear a hat outside when it's cold outside...so i've started knitting a basic hat with a fold-over rim. i hope this baby likes it! my goal is to knit at least one hat every 2 weeks.

fyi...sneakers are my snow shoe-wear.

after a few hours of shoveling, the sky cleared up and it was pretty mad bright outside. there are loads of icicles forming...you can't really see it too well in this picture (above), but that's as close as i could get since i'm not the tallest person in the world.

i was very creative this weekend...but that will be in tomorrow's post.

winter favorites

in the winter time, i always like to eat tangerines! not because of the name, but i like how it's sweet, but tangy. whenever we peel tangerines, grace always peeled them so that there was a tree...i'm not sure how to describe it, but next time she's over, i will make her peel a tree out and then take a picture.

i also really love to knit...mainly because it's the winter and it's pretty nice to be warm. which reminds me...it's snowing...right now...it's pretty mad rad! okay, so karina and i got these skeins of yarn. i'm going to knit a earflap hat and karina is going to knit a slouch hat. i let her borrow my knitting needles...but thinking about it, i think i might need them for my hat.

i want to spend less and be more crafty...i feel like i'm a bit lazy. i will have to work on something this weekend. i can't be lazy.

i am here! i've been pretty busy/lazy to update this blog, but here i am. this weekend, i promise you, i will be more creative. i've been in a slump.

while i'm waiting for the train, i watch the birds flying. sometimes half the birds in the tree fly and then split and go back to the same tree or go to a new tree. they did this pattern one morning. this morning, they didn't really do much of that except fly around to a new tree and then fly around again, but go back to original tree.

i've been doing a lot of knitting...trying to make beret kind of hat...i made one too small, then one too big, then another too big (but not as big as the second one) and the four time, it was a tad too small, but it worked...ish. i'm not going to make a beret hat ever again. i really want to sew, but my room is a bit of a mess and there's not much room to put my sewing machine right now. next weekend, i will sew. i promise.

here's the black acrylic yarn...i think i will stick to knitting mittens.

here's the grey wool/cotton/acyrlic blend...this was used for the really small hat, but i think i might just make a hat for lilly.

bonjour pumpkin pie! last year i learned how to make pumpkin pie from scratch, so i made it this year. martha showed me how to make the edges nice...part of the edges was from my mom doing it but the majority was the way martha showed me.

i hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving and remembered what they are thankful for. :) i'm thankful for having a caring family, a great bestestest friend, and my belle & rosey.

my sister told me the easiest way to learn a language is to listen/watch tv in that language and to write in that language. so, i started talking to nyanga in french, but my french is really horrible, but it feels good to be able to ask someone questions about a language. i also write in a journal every day (well, almost every day) in french...explaining what i did for the day. my vocabulary is limited, so i bought a french dictionary to help me learn every day words. i bought this french dictionary for 4$ on amazon!

it's officially fall season in my area. the leaves have changed and they are falling like snow. we no longer rake the leaves...so that's pretty nice!

i won the lotto...a whole 2$. christine bought me a lotto ticket and now i have to redeem it. it is the first time i ever won...i guess the key is for me not to buy it and for someone else to. that's the luck!

thanks to karina, i'm addicted to klondike (aka. solitaire). i showed dave that he has it on his ipod and now he's addicted to it. i usually see him on the evening train, but i saw him his morning and he said hey and went right back to playing this game.

yesterday, when we went to mood, michael (an old man who works there) had some really awesome shoes. they look like converse sneakers, but they're not...it would be pretty sweet to have converse sneakers that high...i'd get a pair. anyways, michael got these shoes in california.

my converse sneakers...with yellow. they are quite old and honestly, i love all the converse sneakers i've ever own. it's quite a tragic experience whenever i have to throw my old pairs out. i used to have steel toed converse sneakers, but my friend had them and she was mad at me because i wouldn't pick up her phone calls at 6:00 AM...so she threw them out. that was tragic.

speaking of tragics...today is lisa's last day. **emo tear** i'm very sadden by this. all thanks to lisa, i got my first fashion job from lisa. i miss lisa...we worked really well together as a team...it was so chill working with her and i'm sad that we won't be working with each other. liiiiiiiiissssssaaaaa. mcdonalds?? yes? what? huh? what's wrong? huh? what? i'm confused.

today, my bff, lisa, erin, and i went to mood and ykk. it was quite fabulous. as always, i found really nice fabrics at mood. i found this one plaid (below)...i want to make a dress or something cool out of it. we'll see, but i probably won't buy it because i have a lot of fabrics to begin with already.

i need to get back into sewing. it has been 2 weeks since i last sewn something that i'd wear. i made a braided belt, but that was it. come on...let's get going!

lisa designed a denim skirt with suspenders...so i think this weekend i might make it...if not a skirt that i saw. below are two pictures of two different hardware for the suspenders...i'm not sure which one to use. lisa has it designed to be antique gold hardware, but i really like the shape and size for the SILVER ones.

here are my super fly zebra shoes (thanks to erin). since i don't really like posting pictures of my face, i have decided to just post pictures of my shoes and where i'm at. it makes sense though...people always take pictures of their face...and for 4 years, i try not posting my face on the internet (except for facebook).

my "no one wants to take a picture with me" series needs to be continued...i did it last week...and out of all the pictures, only 3 people smiled in the picture...everyone else hid their face. :\ good stuff man.

after 3 years, i finally watched CLARA ET MOI. i was going to watch it at the french film festival in 2005...but it didn't happen cause i couldn't make it. it was a great movie, but of course, something bad happens where the relationship just can't work. the ending is sad, but it's very realistic...if you're in that situation.

VIPERE AU POING is my favorite french film...i heart jules sitruk. i was lucky to be in the conference with him answering questions. he's a very cute little boy and a great actor. i must study french as much as i can, but i think the thing that stops me is not because i'm lazy, but because i don't have anyone to converse in french with me.

at least i know my gag reflexes are working

apparently there is an army of mushrooms in my front yard. my dad says there must be dead roots from a tree...which would make sense because it's right next to a really old tree. these mushrooms were not gnarly...they were pretty disturbing. out of all the pictures i took, there were only two that were not disturbing to me.

i'm thinking...almost my haircut, but they need bangs.

this one actually didn't disturb me because it looks like an army...especially since there's one right smack leading the way and the others shadow him/her.

today, yoo-kyoung brought me fabrics from her old company. she received massive amounts of fabric, and here are a few. yoo-kyoung bought the blue/white striped fabric...she said it was really expensive...so i will do my best and treat it well. :) i think i might make a dress out of it, but i'm really unsure. lately, my sewing has been horrible. the solid pink & yellow knit, i will make long sleeved shirts...i need them for the winter time.

october = breast cancer awareness month

every monday in the month of october, my company is allowed to wear jeans with a donation of 5$. i wore my jeans today (just like every other day at work) and i donated my 5$ and received a really cool bracelet. it's really big, but i will wear it every day. :)

this is a great cause and i think the SUSAN G. KOMEN foundation is my favorite charity. i'm really glad that grace walked in the SGK walk and i'm glad i spent the massive amount of money that i did for the NKOTB shirt (every cent goes to the SUSAN G. KOMEN foundation). i will be wearing that tomorrow as well as my bracelet and pin.

it has been quite some time since i wrote in this blog. i've been incredibly busy at work and when i get home, i've been sewing, knitting, and taking the girls out.

the other day, i went out for a walk around the neighborhood, and i saw a toy car, an upside down angel, mushrooms, and a decaying chipmunk. it's kinda weird how you find random things while walking. one day i saw a squirrel having a party with a corn decoration he snagged from a nearby house. it was pretty mad rad. so tomorrow, when i go out for a walk, i will bring my camera.

when i went on the train the other day, this is what showed up on the screen...errr....possessed much??

this was the other day on the train. i usually stand in the vestibule a minute or two before my stop so that i can get out, run down the stairs and then up a different set of stairs, and then run to the car before traffic hits going home the rest of the way.

anyways, the conductor opened the doors too early...so i rode in the vestibule with the doors opened. it was almost western-movie-ish like!

today is the first season of fall. i'm pretty excited about the change of seasons. i hope this fall is a beautiful one. i want to go apple picking and see the leaves change colors.

today, jonese & i went to the bathroom...and every single time we go to the bathroom, we stop by the corner with the paul frank license. jonese saw the bike that we want and we were drooling at it from the glass door. a man walks up and asks us what's up and we tell him how we're huge paul frank fans and we love the bike. he invited us in and we looked at the bike...in love. it's a really sweet bike.

then we saw a lady, who is an account executive, and we were talking to her. she was showing us their line and we were in love. we said we'd buy all of them...even the boy swim shorts. she was quite happy and i asked her if i could leave my card with her (if they ever have a sample sale) and she said sure. she told us to come knocking at the door later on in the year for samples!! she said she'd save some for us and to definitely come back in december. :)

jonese was smart and she asked for the lady's card. smart!!

today we celebrated melieka's birthday. we had a breakfast party with blueberry muffins, chocolate muffins, and croissants. i made her a card with fake cupcakes inside and everyone signed the box.

today is BFF day 1 in NYC. we're going to lunch and shopping! :)

this is the dress that i made from the fabric melieka had given to me on friday. i made this sunday morning and wore it monday. i don't like showing my face. karina took this picture. thanks melieka!!

i found this metal spoon on the railroad this morning. it didn't move when the train passed over it. i wonder how it got there...it's not like you see a spoon on the railroad everyday.

here's a closer picture of the spoon. at first, i thought it was my spoon...but when would i have had the chance to lose my metal spoon if it was at work??!

today, the very lovely melieka saved me these fabrics so that i can make something out of them. i am so very happy. i went to mood today and found some fabrics that i would love to make a simple woven dress out of.

before i head out today, i need to get the notes from karina on how to smock. i can't wait to learn it and practice it. that is one of my plans for this weekend. i hope i create something really awesome.

yesterday, spicy mcspicy gave me spicy peppers. the smelled and looked incredibly tongue burning hot. these peppers had a really awesome bright green color. makes me want to harvest vegetable/fruit plants. spring season means hello watermelon and i hope my avocado plant grows well!

today is a cowboy kind of day. yeeeee-hawwwww! i just need cowboy boots...which from what the mister's dad told me, they are very difficult to wear. i need to do more research on dslr's...although...i'm thinking about investing in 35mm film cameras...what about polaroids...or altoid cameras?? i still need to make mine.

i saw this when i was at the train station...i never noticed it before...but it looked really cool for some reason.

a great weekend

this weekend was a pretty good weekend. last night i saw the charlotte ronson fashion show on tv...it was the first time i ever saw it on television. i follow her collections and her work inspires me.

above and below are pictures of the next shirt i'm working on. i worked on heather's dress, but since she bought silk chiffon...i didn't think it would turn out well because why would you get a casual dress dry cleaned? so, we talked about it, and it's going to be like my dress...except in purple. i'm going to finish it tonight and take pictures before i hand it over to her.

above is a close-up picture of the button i made. i didn't have any DTM buttons, and so i decided to just make my own "DTM" 4H buttons.

i am currently confused and back to square one on dslr. i like the rebel because grace has it and i tried it and it works beautifully. i liked the nikon d40...but i read up on it, and it's not that compatible with the lenses i want. so...maybe it's back to the olympus e410...although the fisheye is incredibly expensive. i'm not sure...but i'm sure that by the end of this year, i will get a dslr...and be ready for the shoot-off!

on friday...i talked to the mister for 3 hours...never again...it was like a talk-a-thon...but i was quite exhausted saturday morning. we had an awesome talk and i enjoyed the fact that he was incredibly nice to me...and i thanked him for that later because we like each other when we're nice to each other...instead of fighting.

fyi...i love rancid...how can you not love tim armstrong's voice??!

(ps. by "shoot-out" i mean with our dslr cameras...even though i have yet to purchase it. oh...and "shoot-out" was creatively named by robert himself.)

a very long friday at work

it's a very long friday. i'm so used to leaving at 2pm because we had summer hours. today is the first day where the hours are back to normal. goodbye summer hours. you will be missed.

today i wore the dress i made and i wore my sister's boots. they are really nice boots from italy! but to tell you the truth, it is quite a challenge to run up three flights of stairs in them.

after i made my dress the other, a girl named heather asked me to make her one, but she wanted some things changed. heather bought two yard of the beautiful purple knit, but she wanted to add a bit fluff (the grey) to the bottom as a trim and she wanted the bows to be out of the grey chiffon. so, that is my project this weekend when it is raining. i hope everyone is safe from hurricane hanna. i will take pictures of my dress and heather's this weekend.

i really want to open my own shop with karina. i think we would do an awesome job and karina is super awesome lady. that would be a pretty great dream to come true...

today i went to mood fabrics and had a really fun time. i got three amazing yards of fabrics...courtesy of yoo-kyoung. i helped design two of her groups for lt apparel, and in exchange, she bought me fabric. i looooooooove fabric, especially knits! above are the three striped fabrics that i received today and the floral print is a knit fabric that i really like. i think i might think about it and maybe make a dress out of it after i purchase a yard or something.
